Calling all early-career researchers

The Young Scientists Workshop (YSW) at KERNTec 2026 invites you to present your research, discuss innovative ideas, and connect with leaders in nuclear science and engineering. The workshop will take place 29–30 September 2026 at the Fortbildungs- und Tagungsstätte (FTU) on the KIT North Campus, Karlsruhe, Germany.

The Young Scientists Workshop provides a unique platform for early-career researchers to showcase their work, exchange knowledge, and engage with experts from academia, industry, and regulatory authorities. Contributions are welcome from all areas of nuclear science and engineering, including:

  • Fission and fusion

  • Nuclear fuel cycle

  • Reactor technology and safety systems

  • Decommissioning and waste management

Selected authors will have the opportunity to present their work during the YSW sessions. Outstanding contributions will be recognized by a jury, and the best papers will receive a monetary competence award.

If submissions exceed available presentation slots, additional participation opportunities will be offered through an A0 poster session, allowing more young researchers to showcase their work and engage in discussion.

Beyond the scientific program, KERNTec 2026 provides a unique networking environment. Industry representatives and companies will host small recruiting booths, offering participants the chance to explore career opportunities and build valuable professional connections early in their careers.
