29th International QUENCH Workshop
The 29th International QUENCH Workshop will be held at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Karlsruhe, Germany), Campus North, from 19 to 21 November 2024.
Accident-tolerant fuel (ATF) materials have been under development worldwide since Fukushima. As part of the QUENCH program at KIT, ATF cladding tubes are tested under the conditions of DBA-LOCA and severe accidents up to temperatures of 2000°C. The current results of this research work at KIT and other project partners will be presented and discussed at the QUENCH workshop. Further topics on the second and third day of the workshop are long-term interim storage (behavior of hydrogen and hydrides in the cladding tube), modeling and code application as well as current topics on LOCA and the early phase of severe accidents.
