Forum Zwischenlagerung - next generation: A look into the future of responsibility!
At this year's Interim Storage Forum, organised by the BGZ Gesellschaft für Zwischenlagerung mbHwe from the Young Generation of the Nuclear Society had the opportunity to make an important contribution. The focus was on the question of how young people can - and must - take responsibility for dealing with radioactive waste in the future.
With a varied programme and an entertaining moderation by Cedric Engels, the guests were guided through an inspiring day. In addition to exciting inputs from the well-known Youtuber Jacob Beautemps and the Science Busters, who communicate science in a humorous way, the young scientist Julia Niedermeier the audience. She made a passionate plea in favour of training and a career in nuclear technology - a call to help shape the future of the industry!
Our interactive workshop "Generational justice - Impossible or a question of definition?"moderated by Florian Krist, offered participants the opportunity to examine the topic of intergenerational justice from several perspectives. The first part of the workshop was characterised by discussions on the political, economic and ecological situation in Germany associated with the use of nuclear energy. Attitudes and experiences were exchanged in lively discussions in order to create a common basis for discussion.
The second part focussed on the issue of justice. The question of sustainability was discussed particularly intensively: Is it possible to live and do business sustainably without leaving unresolved problems for future generations? The nuclear phase-out was also discussed - a decision that limited the amount of additional nuclear waste, but at the same time replaced functioning nuclear power plants with coal-fired power plants. For many participants, this was a double-edged sword in terms of sustainability.
That was the Forum Zwischenlagerung - next generation: a day full of dialogue, new perspectives and commitment to a sustainable future - many thanks to the BGZ for the invitation and to all participants!
