Young Scientists' Conference on Nuclear Technology 2019 in Essen-Kupferdreh
The annual Young Generation Nuclear Technology Conference of the KTG Young Generation took place this year at the KSG | GfS simulator centre in Essen-Kupferdreh. 35 young scientists, students and interested employees from nuclear technology companies had the opportunity to take a look "outside the box".
Eleven presentations covered a wide range of topics, from power plant simulation, reactor safety and radiation protection to innovations in nuclear technology, waste disposal issues, knowledge transfer at CERN and the work of other young generations of European nuclear societies. The topics of diversity and modern teamwork in everyday working life were discussed as part of a keynote speech and subsequent discussion.
As every year, we particularly look forward to the exciting tours, which are often unique highlights. For example, we were shown the world's only glass reactor model including various scenarios, rehearsed incidents in the power plant simulator at Brokdorf NPP and visited the GNS cask production facility. There were plenty of opportunities for socialising and networking at the pre-event meeting and joint dinner with food and drink.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the KSG | GfS simulator centre and GNS for their presentations, guided tours and hospitality. We would also like to thank all the speakers for their exciting presentations and the participants for their keen interest and attendance at the Nuclear Technology Night Conference 2019!
