Young Scientists Conference Nuclear Technology 2025 - Networking, Knowledge, Future!
Around 40 young professionals from Germany, Austria and Switzerland met for the joint Young Professionals Conference on Nuclear Technology at the Gösgen nuclear power plant. For two days, everything revolved around the question: What can we do today - and what will we need tomorrow?
In specialist lectures, workshops and student presentations, there were intensive discussions on which options for SMR concepts are realistic, how we deal with the issues of dismantling, final disposal and reprocessing and what challenges currently exist for large power plants.
A special highlight was the exclusive guided tour through the containment of the KKG - a fascinating insight into the technology and safety architecture of a nuclear power plant.
On the previous day, some participants also took the opportunity to visit the rock laboratory Mont Terri Project and get to know current research work on final disposal at first hand.
A big thank you goes to our sponsors - Swissnuclear - The Swiss nuclear power plant operators, YG-SGK, Gösgen-Däniken AG nuclear power plant, Westinghouse Electric Company, Framatome GmbH and NUKEM Technologies Engineering Services GmbH, whose support made it possible to finance the participation of seven students through scholarships.
A big thank you also goes to the organisation team, especially Petros Papadopoulos, for the excellent planning and implementation!
👉 The young talent conference has shown once again: The fascination for nuclear technology unites - and the next generation is ready to help shape the future of energy! ⚛️💡
