A major contribution of personnel to safety is to avoid mistakes as far as possible. But people make mistakes. The aim must therefore be to minimise errors and to deal with them appropriately. The first step is to define the behaviour that is expected of staff.

The presentation highlights - initially using the example of nuclear energy - which behaviours contribute to increasing safety culture, how to adapt these behavioural standards to other sectors and how to implement them sustainably in companies.

From the contents:

Nuclear energy in Germany - A historical view

Error, safety and feedback culture

Applied safety culture through standards of behaviour

Standards for allTools for professional action

Bert Poeten shows in his presentation how decades of experience in nuclear energy can be used to gain cross-industry insights for the professional handling of safety.
